Making final mile delivery 100% carbon neutral

Collaborating with GreenPrint, a PDI company, to build a sustainable future.

PICKUP is committed to building a more sustainable future. We’re collaborating with GreenPrint to do our part in offsetting carbon emissions from our deliveries by 100%. PICKUP is the only on-demand delivery provider implementing a sustainability program to help reduce the carbon footprint. We’re also working to incorporate additional initiatives in our everyday business.

How it Works

Track Delivery Mileage

PICKUP tracks the delivery mileage across our network of Delivery Pros

Calculate Tailpipe Emissions

Powered by GreenPrint, PICKUP calculates total GHG emissions from EPA, EIA and FHWA

Offset Delivery Emissions

PICKUP invests in verified carbon reduction projects to 100% delivery emissions

Based on delivery mileage, PICKUP calculates vehicle emissions and neutralizes them through certified carbon reduction projects such as renewable energy, transportation efficiency, greenhouse gas abatement and reforestation.

J. B. Hunt Intermodal Transportation Project

UNITED STATES

Pursuing carbon efficiency in transportation by increasing the amount of freight transported by intermodal instead of long-haul trucking. Rail transportation was found to generate only one third of the emissions generated by truck transportation. Hunt also implemented an Idling Bonus Program to monetarily reward drivers and their managers for reducing  unnecessary engine idling.

Jari/Pará Redd + Project, Amazon Forest Project

BRAZIL

Promotes forest conservation and reduces potential greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) based on a model of local economic development that values the “standing forest” through the integration of Sustainable Forest Management activities and the commercialization of environmental services. The project is in the State of Pará and borders the State of Amapá to the North. There is a very important role in this region as it serves as a home for many rural families and as an ecological corridor, with several Conservation Units (CUs) in its vicinity. It has a very rich biodiversity; its vegetation includes ten forest and non-forest formations and species of extreme ecological and social importance.

Cerro De Hula Wind Project

HONDURAS

First wind farm interconnected to the National Interconnected System of Honduras, located in the municipalities of Santa Ana and San Buenaventura, Honduras, Central America. The main objective of the Cerro de Hula Wind Project is to provide affordable electricity to the Honduran grid by means of a renewable, clean, and inexpensive (i.e., zero marginal cost) source: the wind. For this purpose, the project will make use of 51 GAMESA G87 – 2MW 60Hz wind turbines, for a total of 102 MW. The net power production provided to the national grid is expected to be approximately 345,970 MWh per year.

We’re Planting 10,000 Trees

Eden Reforestation Campaign

MOZAMBIQUE

Committed to planting 10,000 trees over two years in Mozambique. Due to the large-scale loss of mangroves, Eden initiated the program in 2018 to bring back the vitality of the forests that fringe the rivers and coastline. The project supports local communities to plant and manage mangrove forests, offers long-term employment and livelihood improvements to local communities and protects biodiversity that relies on mangrove forests to survive.

FAQs

How does PICKUP offset carbon emissions on deliveries?

Powered by GreenPrintgreenhouse gas emissions are calculated based on delivery mileage and neutralized through the management and investment in certified carbon reduction projects.

What is a certified carbon offset?

A certified carbon offset is a certificate representing the reduction, destruction or capture of one metric ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Certified carbon offsets are produced by certified carbon reduction projects. These projects must follow strict guidelines established by internationally recognized standards in order to generate certified carbon offsets.

How are carbon offsets purchased?

Carbon offsets are purchased to negate a CO2 equivalent emission. Offsets are certified and exchanged, much like stocks, via one of the officially recognized carbon registries such as CSA Group Registries, Climate Action Reserve, and Verified Carbon Standard.

What types of projects qualify as certified carbon reduction projects?

There are many different types of carbon offset projects that avoid, reduce, destroy, or capture the emission of greenhouse gasses. Project types include renewable energy, such as wind farms, biomass energy, or hydroelectric dams. Others include energy efficiency projects, the destruction of industrial pollutants or agricultural byproducts, greenhouse gas abatement, zero till cropping, destruction of landfill methane, and forestry projects.
